Way back in December of 2018, an anonymous 4chan poster made a post that some have interpreted as leaking the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters. The post was largely ignored at the time, but it has since gained traction after being posted on forums like Reddit. The post points to Dragon Quest’s Hero and Banjo-Kazooie as DLC characters (this was before they were announced, of course), and adds Doomguy to the mix, along with a Monster Hunter from Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise.

The post is framed more as a fan’s wishlist than someone presenting the information as a leak, but the accuracy of it so far is what has some thinking it is a leak in disguise, especially since Banjo-Kazooie was such a long shot pick for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC lineup.
If the anonymous 4chan poster is leaking information as some have speculated, then we know a little bit more details about what to expect from Doomguy and Monster Hunter. Apparently, Doomguy will be based on the character’s look from the 2016 reboot, but he will have access to some weaponry from the upcoming Doom Eternal as well, like the arm blade.
Monster Hunter, meanwhile, will come with male and female variations. The alternate costumes will deck the player out in completely different armor from the franchise.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that Doomguy could be a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so this “leak” (if it truly is one) is somewhat easier to believe than most. Of course, fans should always take Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC “leaks” with a grain of salt, as we won’t truly know who the next DLC fighters will be until Nintendo itself decides to reveal them.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
