Fortnite is known for its massive library of different weapons. It recently just added some mini-boss-guarded Mythic weapons and a selection of new Legendaries. Many weapons have come and gone over the years, making their way into the vaults where they collect dust. But Epic has been known to drag some old weapons out now and again, if not for matches, at least for creative mode.

For the first time in a while, data miners have found that the Guided Missile Launcher has returned to Fortnite’s game files. It’s not yet available in game anywhere, but the files are there. Perhaps the Launcher will return just for Creative Mode, but it could see some regular match play in the near future.

When the Launcher originally launched in 2018, it had a host of problems. The Guided Missile Launcher was temporarily removed from Fortnite, then it was nerfed, only to be removed again, this time for good. The weapon was so overpowered because players could not only use it to blow up opponents, but players could also ride the missile across the map. The return of the Guided missile launcher could be once again overpowered and riddled with problems, just like its original release.

On the other hand, if this is one of the unvaulted weapons for Chapter 2 Season 2, it could be a lot of fun for Creative Mode. Being able to ride the missiles and explode the map with the new Chaos physics could be hilarious for those players who like to play Fortnite casually. For those who aren’t playing professionally or for a tournament, the Guided Missile Launcher can add a lot of laughs to a match. So perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad if the Launcher made a brief, glitchless return.

Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
