As spotted by MP1st, the PlayStation Store itself has seemingly leaked the Ghostwire: Tokyo release date. Assuming the leak is accurate, it would seem that the wait for fans to play Tango’s next game is nearly at an end, as the PlayStation Store claims that Ghostwire: Tokyo is set to launch on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Neither Sony nor Bethesda have said anything about the leak, so fans should take it with a grain of salt for now.

Updates on Ghostwire: Tokyo have been relatively few and far between since the game’s initial announcement, but there is evidence to suggest that the release date could be accurate. In December, Ghostwire: Tokyo was rated in Brazil, and then it received its Korean rating earlier this month. Generally speaking, ratings boards don’t issue ratings for games until they’re relatively close to release, so it’s entirely possible that the leaked Ghostwire: Tokyo release date is accurate.

Then again, it’s possible that it’s just a placeholder date and fans will have to wait until later in the year to play the game. That seems unlikely, though. As one may recall, Ghostwire: Tokyo was originally supposed to launch in 2021 before its release date was pushed back to 2022, and since the game was already supposed to be out by now, the leaked March 24 release date isn’t super hard to believe. Regardless, it’s best for fans to wait for an official announcement before they mark their calendars.

Whenever Ghostwire: Tokyo does release, it will do so as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, despite the fact that Microsoft owns Tango Gameworks. But while PlayStation 5 gamers will have first dibs on Ghostwire: Tokyo, it’s highly likely that the game will come to Xbox once its exclusivity window is up, and that it will do so as a day one Xbox Game Pass game when that day comes.

Ghostwire: Tokyo marks the end of Bethesda’s PlayStation deals, so after its launch, all Bethesda games will be releasing as Xbox console exclusives from here on out, including heavy hitters like the upcoming Starfield. It will be interesting to see if this drives more Xbox console sales in future.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is in development for PC and PlayStation 5.
