As seen in the video below, this much has revealed by the YouTube channel dubbed “The Know” citing an “inside source” who “requested to remain anonymous” that claims Grand Theft Auto 6 is being referred to internally as Project Americas within Rockstar Games, and will use a Miami setting, which could either be the actual area or the game’s south Florida version, Vice City. Of course, considering the fact that this information isn’t coming directly from the developer in a clear and open manner, it’s important to remain skeptical about the details that The Know has shared.

In addition to Grand Theft Auto 6’s potential Vice City setting, The Know’s source has intimated that the forthcoming game could feature a female character as one of the main leads, which would be the first time in the series’ history. However, this much has not been confirmed, and no more details were given as to whether or not players will be able to take control of more than one protagonist as they can in GTA 5.

Finally, it is being rumored that Grand Theft Auto 6 is said to be at least three to four years away from release, and could come out as late as 2022, stretching the length of development time in between GTA titles even further than ever before. All things considered, with Rockstar’s upcoming western title Red Dead Redemption 2 still in the works and set to launch later this year, it’s highly likely that GTA 6 won’t enter full production until the developer ensures a stable release for RDR2 and its online components. So, we will have to wait and see if these rumors bear fruit.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has yet to be officially announced.
