Rocksteady has been linked to the project in the past, but every rumor about an upcoming game for the original DC hero is shot down just as quickly.

Inside a leak for the upcoming Batman game being developed by WB Montreal is another nugget of information concerning a future Superman game. If the leak is to be believed, WB Montreal may also be working on the next game featuring the Man of Steel. This new information would give credence to Rocksteady’s repeated claims that it is not developing the next Superman title.
This has been an ongoing issue since the last stand-alone Superman game, 2006’s Superman Returns. There is a noticeable pattern with the legendary franchise when it comes to video game production. A studio pitches a game idea to Warner Brothers, produces some early assets, does up some concept art, shows off said art, and then promptly cancels the project. The first to suffer this fate was an open-world game that would have been called Superman: Man of Steel from developer Factor 5. This game made it fairly far along in production, but financial woes beset the company and it was forced to shutter.
Since then, WB Games was previously linked to an open-world Superman game around 2013, and Rocksteady has been at the center of most rumors after their success handling the Arkham franchise. With speculation growing over what the latest Batman game will be about, it should come as no surprise that leaks and rumors like this latest on a potential Superman game are beginning to surface.
Superman is a difficult character to create a game around, given the myriad of powers at his disposal. Finding the right kind of game world for him to inhabit, and finding the right story to tell that will draw players in, is proving to be kryptonite to developers. With the DC Extended Universe attempting to build steam, Warner Brothers is likely hard at work trying to find someone who can crack the code to making a great Superman game. Perhaps this first hint will finally lead to the long-awaited next game for the Man of Steel.
