Speculation about when such a Nintendo Direct would occur went wild. A leaked document from Electronic Arts earlier this year pointed towards a January Nintendo Direct, but beyond that no specific details are available.
Enter ResetEra insider John Harker, who has been confirmed by site staff as a reliable source for such details. Harker’s post pointed made clear that January 11 was the date to watch, though there was a chance it had been delayed since he’d last heard.
John Harker’s comment then received a supporting post from one Emily Rogers, also known as ArcadeGirl64. Rogers’ reply says, “John Harker is telling the truth about the 11th,” followed by a tease about an unannounced SNK Nintendo Switch project. As far as rumors go, you could do much worse than two confirmed industry insiders that love to share rumors and leaks.
Nintendo’s line-up of planned first-party releases for the Nintendo Switch in 2018 remains mysterious for the time being. A Nintendo Direct on January 11 could go a long way in revealing the company’s plans.
