Just like the Grand Theft Auto series, the Saints Row series have always been open-world games with big, sprawling virtual cities. While this calls for exploration using all available means of transportation, sometimes players may just want to get from point A to point B instantly without any sort of hassles. In the first two Saints Row games, the easiest way to do this would be by ordering a taxi, but unfortunately this mechanic was scrapped in both Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row 4.

The good news is Volition is planning to add a new fast travel system into the upcoming Saints Row. That’s according to a new report that details some of the new features coming to the game. The new system reportedly will allow players to fast travel around the fictional city of Santo Ileso without having to drive by themselves for miles. While this sounds like a big help for situations like when a mission giver is located on the other side of the city, fans of the series must always keep in mind that the information is still yet to be confirmed as of this writing.

The report also provides more details as to how the new fast travel feature works, as well as how Volition limits the feature to some degree. It says that new fast travel locations in Saints Row can be unlocked by taking pictures of nearby landmarks. Once the picture has been taken, players are able to fast travel to the specified location.

While it has its limitations, the new fast travel system in the next Saints Row game can still be a welcome change for both veteran and new players who occasionally lose interest in getting around the city and just want to complete missions after missions in the quickest, possible way. It can also indicate that the new city of Santo Ileso is indeed the biggest playground that Volition has ever made for the whole Saints Row franchise.

Saints Row releases on August 23rd for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
