One such rumor was spotted by MacRumors, and it’s all about the battery life of the iPhone 13. It looks like the phone will finally feature a larger battery, which should vastly improve the next iPhone model’s battery life.
What’s Changing With the iPhone 13 Battery?
The rumored change to the battery originates from a reliable analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo has broken all sorts of Apple specs over the years, so when they say something, there’s a reasonable chance that it’ll actually come to pass.
Here’s the direct quote from Kuo:
It sounds like Apple can make the battery physically larger by making some space-saving design decisions that will allow the company to fit more battery in the phone without sacrificing other aspects of the device.
We recently heard a rumor that was Apple was planning to change the Face ID camera to plastic, which would go along with reducing the front optical modules’ thickness.
Interestingly, Apple actually decreased the battery size for iPhone 12 models. In fact, the iPhone 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max have batteries that are 295 mAh, 231 mAh, 282 mAh smaller than their predecessors, respectively. It’s quite exciting to see that the company is pushing for larger batteries and better battery life with the upcoming iPhone models, though.
According to the report from Ming-Chi Kuo, the only downside Apple might face when increasing the battery size of the next iPhone models comes to the weight. As a large portion of a phone’s weight comes from the battery, increasing the battery’s size will make the next iPhone models heavier, but that’s a tradeoff many users will likely be willing to accept.
When Will Apple Announce the Next iPhone?
We have a long time to go until Apple announces the next iPhone, so we’re going to need some patience. Presumably, Apple will follow the same pattern concerning releasing the iPhone 13, which means it will probably launch in September or October of this year, as that’s when the company launched the previous generations of phones.
