Southampton is considering a January swoop for Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye, The Sun reports.
Claude Puel, who worked closely with Cabaye in the early stages of his career at Lille, feels the Frenchman can add the quality necessary for a top-eight finish in the Premier League.
Cabaye has been in and out of the starting XI at Palace as Alan Pardew seeks to find his best team, but the club have dropped towards the relegation zone on the back of four straight defeats.
The report claims Puel will look to capitalize on his countryman’s unrest in London by offering an exit route with a bid of around eight million ($10.1M).
Palace itself paid £10 million to bring Cabaye in from Paris Saint-Germain in 2015 and could be tempted to part ways with the midfielder if it can to recoup the majority of its fee.
