According to the Mirror, this so-called source was quoted as saying:
“Jose told the players before the West Ham game that they would hear him talk down their title chances.
He told them to pay no attention because his intention was to take the pressure off the team and put others under the microscope.
He also told the players that he believes they will be champions this season.”
Now being honest, I have to say reading all the quotes from Mourinho you do not believe it one bit as we are used to his approach from the first time he was here back in 2004 onwards.
He established a winning mentality at the club and the rest followed. We never heard him play down our chances and if anything, he also established this backs against the wall mentality.
One thing we do know is his determination to take the pressure away from the players by causing a stir in the press and the media (take the situation with Pellegrini).
I firmly believe that the source is correct and the players do genuinely believe they can win the league.
As a Chelsea fan, looking at where we are now with 13 games to play (9 against sides in the bottom half of the league, 4 against our rivals and only 1 of those games being away from home), it’s in our hands to throw it away.
